Socktopus is a family business focused on designing personality-led socks with a nod to British and European humour and culture.

Working as a Social Media and Marketing Manager for Socktopus allowed me to assist the start up of the business; creating the wholesale website, organising product and lifestyle photoshoots for all designs, as well as managing each social platform, shooting, editing and scheduling content monthly. I would edit funky on theme photo content and film videos in store for Instagram Reels and TikTok.

Capturing the personality of the brand through carefully styled shots, from bold patterns on the beach to lifestyle images in quirky cafés, allowed me to blend visual storytelling with product focus. Being part of a small, passionate team meant every shoot felt personal and purposeful, and there's real excitement in helping bring a young brand’s vision to life. Brighton’s vibrant, eclectic backdrop only adds to the charm, making each photo feel authentic, fresh, and full of character which is exactly what Socktopus aimed to represent.

During my time at Socktopus, I also organised a competition titled 'The Great Brighton Sock Off' which invited customers from all over the UK to pick up a design sheet in store or download the PDF online and sketch up their best Brighton themed sock. We received over hundreds of brilliant entries, and as a team selected the winning sock design, which was then created and sold in store with donations going to a local charity - Brighton and Hove LGBT Switchboard.

With the success of Socktopus Brighton booming, a second shop in Oxford opened followed by a third in Edinburgh, meaning I had multiple managers to liaise with in order to produce and edit varied content coverage for each Socktopus shop. What started off as a small independent business in the heart of the Brighton Laines has turned into a national franchise with seven sock shops, and counting, opening up all around the UK.
