Studying Digital Film at The University of Brighton gave me a deep understanding of cinematography and the creative and technical skills required to bring visual stories to life. Through hands-on experience and theoretical study, I learned how a cinematographer uses camera movement, framing, lighting, and composition to shape the mood and meaning of a scene. I also gained insight into the vital role of an Art Director, whose vision and attention to detail help create the visual world of a film, ensuring consistency in style, setting, and tone. Together, these roles taught me how collaborative and intentional filmmaking truly is, and how every visual decision contributes to the story being told.
